Hi Freddie,
Enjoyed surfing your site this afternoon, although it doesn't look like it gets much updating. It was nice to see that you and the rest of the Family Stone band get along so well (Pioneer Awards). I totally LOVED your track "News." It has the old flavor to it since it almost has the whole band. I have been a big fan of you guys since I was a kid in the Sixties. I always admired the way you never recognized any musical boundaries, especially on the first album. Jazz, Gospel, Soul, Rock and Funk all mingle freely in the same songs, with the infectious hooks on top. Great stuff. Furthermore, you guys don't really get the credit you deserve for breaking barriers as a co-ed, interracial band. I got the "Collection" box set for Christmas '07 and the "Whole New Thing" album was really an eye-opener. I had most of the catalog on LP but was only vaguely aware of an album before "Dance to the Music." IMHO it's the most adventurous of the LP's although "Dance" and "Fresh" were also revolutionary in their own way. I also got a chance to revisit the underappreciated "Life" LP. I know you have all long since moved on with your lives but I hope one day to see a full-blown Sly and the Family Stone reunion. It took all of you to make it happen. I realized this when I saw Sly in the Eighties with a completely different band. It was good but not magic like you guys were. That would be so awesome, especially if there's new material out there as good as the track you have posted. One would think that Sly's had thirty years to write some good stuff, but then I thought the same thing about Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens) and was terribly disappointed. I have read about Sly's less-than-stellar performances in recent years with the Family Stone band, and of course his fiasco at the Grammys. Nevertheless I am hoping and praying that somehow he'll find the old inspiration and you guys can shine your light again someday. Best of luck with your music and your ministry. Rock on!

Hi
I just wanted to say - Congratulations! on your new President. I came "of age" in the 70s, and was a teenager in the 60s, and I would never really have thought this day would ever come. It's fantastic. I'm Canadian, I live in Alberta - and there's so much enthusiasm for Obama here in this country, and it's about time it happened. We're having our own parties to celebrate. Love Sly and the Family Stone of course and Freddie's guitar playing - and Rose's singing; have listened to more and more of the music - I just never get tired of it. It's complex, layered, interesting, brilliant. Take care - keep the faith.

Hello Reverend Stewart,
I was there when Sly and the Family Stone introduced themselves to the world of contemporary music back in the latter part of the sixties. This is just a short note to say, "thank you for being there in that space in time as well as now." Your expertise on the guitar has inspired many musicians, singers, dancers and writers. Hopefully a new bridge is being created in this now time to touch the minds, hearts and creative souls of today's youth to once again ignite a new spark of spiritual consciousness. The larger majority of our youth seem to be overlooking the need for putting "the messages of positive social change in today's music." I pray often that they will look to the horizon and see that we still have the creative power to make positive changes in our today for a rebirth of our spiritual dignity and pride. I wrote the following poem after watching (on TV) your brother and everyone at the Jan 2006 grammy's. I was touched and inspired to write the following:
"a musical note to sly (and the family stone) from me in January 2006"
as i "danced to the music" you
made me realize i too was one of the "everyday people."
i listened with love when you said "stand"
and i didn't want to leave until you all took me naturally "higher"
and just like you, I identified with "hot fun in the summer time"
and you sang, "thank you (falettinme be-mice-elf-agin)
then you gave me (and many) the confidence and boldness to embrace the truth that
"everybody is a star"
and voiced to us to appreciate and realize
it's all just "a family affair."...
and i sang along as you sang "if you want me to stay" again and again
praying that you'd never go away...
I love you Sly Stone and the Family Stone...you all will always be my star(s). Thank you Sly, for showing face tonight at the grammy's please come back again... from a fan and admirer from the inside of my heart.. note: i pray the angels will watch over you always, and I have learned in my life that "wild flowers grow on their own...but die quickly when held too tight ... however some wild flowers defy the rules of nature. Reverend Stewart, I pray that God will always be with you and yours. Once again Thank you for being in this space in time.

Hi Freddie,
My name is Sabonna and I am huge fan of Sly and the Family Stone. It is so good to see Sly performing again I think that is wonderful God Bless him!! I heard that he wants to tour again I would love to see him in concert. I was born in 1970 so I wasn’t able to see you guys back then unfortunately. I wanted to know if Sly and the Family Stone would ever perform in Maryland, Washington DC or Baltimore. Also I wanted to know if they will be coming to New York City because I would take a train to see Sly and the Family Stone play. I heard that Sly has been writing new music as well he is so talented! I saw him on YouTube he was doing an interview on a radio station I can’t remember the name of it but, he looked good and he was so full of energy and ready to take on the music world again. I am so glad he is back I am a Christian and it is so good to see someone like Sly who got caught up in the drugs and everything and then to rise above all that, that is the Lords work I truly believe that. The Lord still has wonderful plans for Sly. Sly is truly blessed in so many ways. I heard that you still play the guitar that’s wonderful you and Larry Graham the way you guys played the bass and guitar together and danced was absolutely amazing to watch. Now you’re preaching the Lords word it is amazing to me how the Lord works through all of us. Take Care Freddie and God Bless you!!!

Dear Fred, and to Rosemarie,
My name is Jeanne Dickenson. My brother is Norman Dickenson. He was in the same class as you. We went to school with you and your brother and sister in Vallejo. My roommate when I went off the Sacramento State for two years was Doretha Arellano, Frank’s sister. We also lived on the same ‘hill’ in ‘old’ Vallejo. Rosemarie and I were childhood school friends in the 4th grade. Just before she left Vallejo High she came up to me one day in the hallway and said something exquisitely beautiful. I have never forgotten her, nor what she said to me. Norm’s and my parents passed away while living in Vallejo in 1992 and 1995. He is living in Santa Rosa now. I have been living in Los Angeles for many years, as well as having spent 10 years living in Mexico City in my twenties. Many lifetimes in between, and I’m sure to not bore you for I am certain that you do not remember me. I have wanted to get in touch with Rosemarie for many many years. I want to respond to her and to the beautiful words that she said to me when we were 16. I am wondering if it is possible for you to communicate this to her, or let me know how to get in touch with her. That is, if she is willing, or for that matter, remembers me at all. All blessings,

Jeanne Dickenson
